What is the importance of giving in Bhakti Marga?

In our tradition, charity is more than giving.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna lists dāna - charity - among the qualities of a divine nature. It's an expression of who we are when we live in alignment with God. An offering made freely, at the right time, to a worthy place, with no expectation of return, is the highest form of giving. The Gita is clear that the spirit behind giving matters more than the act itself. This respects the natural cycle of life that we know as yajna.

How do I make an offering online?

Can I give to a specific project or festival?

We offer many opportunities to support our rituals and festivals. Whilst every act of giving is an act of worship, when you sponsor a puja, yajna or abishekam, you have the chance for your name to be read in the sankalpa (sacred intention) at the start of the ritual. The offerings during the ritual are done directly on your behalf and you receive all the blessings from the prayers.

You can sponsor a Satyanarayana Puja, which takes place monthly. The Satyanarayana Puja is highly auspicious, and Satyanarayana is known for answering the prayers of those who partake in the offering.

You can Adopt a Shaligram - one of thousands of shaligrams at the Paranitya Narasimha Temple in Elmira, NY. By adopting a shaligram you receive the benefit from the regular daily prayers that are offered to the shaligram.

You can support the renovation of our Sangha Space in Elmira - a long-term project to renovate a school to offer a cafe, restaurant, toilets, auditorium and course rooms, and plenty of en-suite bedrooms.

What frequency options are available?

How do I change or manage my recurring giving?

Go to our Give Page
Click “Sign in” at the top right of the Give Form.
Select “Recurring Gifts”
You can view, pause, resume, edit, or cancel any recurring gifts you set up.
Note: you can change the payment method, but you can’t change the amount, or frequency from your account. To change those, you can cancel the recurring gift and create a new one.

Where can I find my Giving History?

You can view your giving history by logging into your donor account and going to My Account. That takes you to your Giving Dashboard, where you can see your full donation history.

Go to our Give Page
Click “Sign in” in the top right of the Donation Form.
On the login screen, enter your email and password (or use Google, Facebook, or Apple if you originally created the account that way).
Click “My Account” to open your Giving Dashboard.

If you forgot your password, you can use I need help with my password on the login page to get a reset email.

How can I get my annual giving statement?

How can I update my personal information?

Update your personal details from your donor account.

Go to our Give Page
Click “Sign in” in the top right of the Donation Form.
On the login screen, enter your email and password (or use Google, Facebook, or Apple if you originally created the account that way).
Click “My Account” to open your Giving Dashboard.
You can update your info in Account Information (name, address) and Communication Preferences (email and change alerts) in the “My Account” tab on your Giving Dashboard.
Save your changes (and update your password if needed).
